We probably don’t need to tell you much more about Justin Vernon’s Bon Iver project. If you read My Old Kentucky Blog with even passing regularity, you know he’s been my favorite artist of the last two years, and his album, For Emma, Forever Ago, will go down as an all-time great in my book. The album has become the fastest selling record ever for it’s label, Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar. The songs are honest, earnest and simple, and within those basic qualities, the album becomes great…transcendent even. When the idea for LaundroMatinee started we had two bands scheduled for our first week with video…The Felice Brothers and Bon Iver. The Felice Brothers cancelled and Bon Iver became the inaugural attempt. We were thrilled, to say the least, that it worked out that way. The session was recorded and filmed in our original Pendleton Heights High School/91.7 WEEM radio station, under those wonderful flourescent lights. As I’m sure Justin feels about his music, we too know we’ve come a long way since these humble beginnings, just months ago, but we’ll be just as thrilled when we can get him back in for Round Two.

I don’t know why but when you hear something as beautiful as this, just makes you want to forget absolutely everything. Brings a real tear to your eye.
