How do you get your dog back from your evil dad(parents are divorced) when he won’t give him to you?

by admin on February 5, 2010

Here’s the story. My dog Fluke is an amazing dog. He is my dog but when my mom left my dad he took Fluke with him and when I asked for him back he wouldn’t give him to me. He kept saying we’ll see. It’s crazy you can’t even give your daughter your dog back. I thought about taking up with the media and the cops won’t do anything for you. Any suggestions? I just really want my dog back.
I don’t visit with my dad so I can’t steal him but thanks for the ideas anyway.
He is really mean to the dog too so I figured I could call the ASPCA but I’m still not sure who to call. Nobody wants to help me.

sneak him in your bag next time you visit him. I’m 100% serious on this my friend did that at her grandmas house cause she took her dog. Just bring like a small kennel in a big duffel bag

The only thing I know that might help your case is whose name is on the vet work, paperwork(registry) or microchip. If it is your mom’s, then you might have a case against him.

Take something of his that he would want back, and only give it back when the dog returns,, Like maybe his car keys? wallet?
Or wait till he takes the dog for a walk or puts him outside, and steal him back,, posession is 9/10ths of the law.

Did your mother give him the dog in the divorce? If not, she can call the cops and have the dog returned to you. Usually property is awarded to the person holding it at the time of divorce. If I were you I wouldn’t even see or speak to my dad until he returned my dog. Manipulate your dad, kids are great at that!

What is your mother’s position on this?

since you are under the age of 18, you do not own the dog.. your parents do.. so the decision of whether your dad or your mom got the dog was either a decision the 2 of them made, or a decision made thru the divorce.

Its not your dog.. the dog belongs to your dad. That is why the cops wont do anything.. the media will not bother with such a boring story either.

ASPCA can only do something if the dog is being abused or neglected.. even then, they will take the dog from your dad, fine him, etc.. the dog will be held at the ASPCA until your dad signs him over, or the dog is forced over by a judge.. the dog will then be put up for adoption.. it wont be given back to you. Since you are under 18, you would not be able to adopt the dog.. your mom would have to apply for the adoption.
