Newman (2)

by admin on July 22, 2010

This is for Newman.I leased this horse from Casey with the understanding that she would get him back if I no longer could keep him. When the time came Casey found Newman a new home. We both thought he would be fine. Well we were wrong. Newman was neglected for 2 months by Lizzy. She claims he does not look so bad and that she did feed him. Lizzy seems more concerned about her reputation then she is concerned about Newman. Pictures do not lie. All of us involved in this are feeling great pain. Nor will we ever understand.

Thank you so much for your comment Mike. You are absolutly right it is sickening what people can let happen to animals.

What kind of person allows a horse to get to this state.
I hope the girl who did this had to stand in front of a judge and explain the abuse delivered to this animal.
It is sickening how some people abuse a poor defenseless animal.

Lois the new video is so good! It helps others that have been so touched by Newman, see his progress, and know that he is doing better everyday! THANK YOU!

Newman is getting better. I posted another video. Lois

Bonnie, really we don’t see it as a responsible action. We all care about Newman, and did what anyone in the same situation would do, or should do. None of us, or the hundreds of private replys understand the neglet that Newman recieved, but it did. Providing what Newman deserves is a natural act for all involved, and he is getting better everyday. We have heard good things about Shannon’s place, and hopefully this all brought some more awareness to neglet and abuse.

Thank you Lois, Ronna, Casey and Norma for taking this tremendous resposibility and ending this terrible situation on a happy note! By all of you aiding Newman and your responsible actions, allows for our establishment to take on another horse that will require extensive care and that horse might not have aloving, caring people as yourselves.

Thank You
Bonnie

Lois, don’t ever have any feelings of guilt, you had no way of knowing what was about to happen anymore then Casey or I… I hope there have been many lessons learned.. can’t help but to wonder but we can hope!

I mention thanks to good friends and family in this video. That was for Bonnie and Shannon and of course Ronna,Casey and Brigita. My last memory of Newman was Lizzy riding him. I kissed him on his nose and told him goodbye with tears in my eyes like I have now.I watched them ride away and thought he looks good he will be happy.I love Newman and I have feelings of guilt, anger and still alot of hurt.I again hope people have learned from this.

Well,I went to work for 12 hours and things surely did calm down in here.I will say I do not say much in this forum Bella and Norma do a great job covering all bases.Norma is my sister and Bella is now a dear friend.I can only hope that people took something from these videos and posts hopefully learned something.I am 46 and learn something everyday.I hope that all the tears and love that I put into these videos accomplished something.I will be making more as Newman gets better.

In typo error I typed in that Casey has kept track of Newman since 2005, it has been since 2002.

Funny, I have posted vital information so this conclude with better understanding and some how these posts vanished?

Bellaperfect July 22, 2010 at 8:47 pm

Lizzy, I’m not attacking you and this is information that anyone might need that is thinking about getting a horse. It isn’t all about the feed, it’s about being able to provide shelter, being able to call a vet if need be, it’s being able to have the time to groom them everyday especially if they are in a pasture all the time. There are so many cost involved in providing proper care for a horse, and people just shouldn’t take them in if they don’t have the funds to provide properly for them.

norma3762 July 22, 2010 at 10:09 pm

I am glad to see it has toned down in here – Let’s not forget the reason we are here though NEWMAN.

evilpurplebear July 22, 2010 at 10:13 pm

perhaps i shouldn’t have posted and started this ruckus. I had just wanted to stick up for my friend and my mentor in horses that i’ve known for years, it just upset me to see people think badly of her when i know what good intentions she has. Best of luck with newmans recovery!

I have to wait another 5 weeks before I can apply for a position at PBE clinic

Bellaperfect July 22, 2010 at 10:47 pm

She used to live in Loxahatchee, but now lives and works in Ocala.

Misty695 July 22, 2010 at 10:49 pm

Are you serious?? Around here? I’ve never met anyone else named lizzy that works with horses…

Bellaperfect July 22, 2010 at 11:16 pm

I know another fairly young women, her name also happens to be Lizzy, and what she did because she knew she couldn’t afford to have one of her one again, she got a job working for an equine vet, and I’ll tell you she could now teach all of us a few things with as much knowledge she has learned just working with them. Now she can also afford to take care of one if she wants to get another one.

BonnieBonzo July 22, 2010 at 11:30 pm

Wow! Finally this is a learning and educating forum! TB’s are hard but once you have their intake balanced out it goes smoothly, however, constant observations. Hey guys, I just got a “little Justin Morgan Freedom” and in his case it’s the other way around, they blow up! and I love to feed so Shanned fired me from this task!

Misty695 July 22, 2010 at 11:32 pm

I agree, no she shouldn’t have, she is the one who even came across this before me.

Misty695 July 23, 2010 at 12:30 am

If he would have kept his weight up, while on the 1.5 sc. 2/3 flake ration he would have been affordable, that’s what the other horses eat and they do fine out there. Apparently he couldn’t, but yes, none stop hay is too expensive for me to feed. That’s probably what he would need to maintain healthy weight out in the elements.
