What are the chances of getting him back?

by admin on April 11, 2010

At my friends arraignment he was ‘charged’ with 3rd degree CSP felony (three years) and 4th degree tampering with evidence felony (18 months) against him in New Mexico. What are the chances that he’ll get back to his pregnant girlfriend in less time? Guilty or not, what are his chances of the charges being dropped or being minimized, im just trying to relieve her in anyway that i can… Sources would be great like personal experience, or where you work or a qualified website… Thanks!

Without knowing the case details (ie how much evidence) its hard to give specifics. It also will depend on any prior record he may have.

With that in mind, as a general rule of thumb on cases like this a guilty plea can sometimes halve the sentence if there is no prior record. If he can get the charges to be served concurrently, he could be out in 18 months, with another 18 months probation.

3 years CSP indicates a fairly large quantity or very restricted substance usually, so I may be optimistic here.
